ITF 2010

Spent the weekend in Austin, TX at the International Trombone Festival with some of the coolest people around. That's right - trombonists! Got to hear some young guys play late night jazz (hence the dark picture). The guy in green was a former student of mine (who has since outgrown me) and is quite the up-and-coming jazz trombonist!

The guy playing above and below is a former Texas All-State jazz trombonist and has some serious improv skills. It was neat to hang out with both guys this weekend.

We saw (and heard) some famous players who were not only inspiring, but also encouraging. And, of course, there were lots of trombone things to browse, including sheet music, recordings, mouthpieces, accessories, and dozens of trombones to test drive...er...play - at least 76!
